Les violes de gambe Michael Batell sont des instruments de concert conçus pour répondre aux exigences des musiciens professionnels, qu’ils soient musiciens de scène ou d’enregistrement, étudiants de conservatoire, amateurs avertis ou collectionneurs.

Chaque instrument est construit individuellement, après une étude approfondie des caractéristiques de son modèle historique et de la manière dont celles-ci s’adaptent le mieux aux préférences de chaque client en termes de sonorité, de jouabilité et de budget. Je dispose d’une importante documentation de référence accumulée tout au long de ma carrière, comprenant des ouvrages importants, des photos de diverses collections et des plans d’instruments historiques spécifiques, obtenus non seulement dans les archives de musées, mais également à partir de mes propres examens, mesures et documentations.

Si certains instruments sont occasionnellement disponibles à la vente, certains peuvent être commandés sur commande. Ils s’inspirent tous de modèles historiques en termes d’architecture et de construction, mais peuvent être construits avec un choix de bois, d’éléments décoratifs, de diapasons et d’espacements de cordes, ainsi que de profils de manche, pour répondre aux préférences de chaque musicien.

J’expose régulièrement mes œuvres lors de festivals et j’organise une série de concerts dans mon atelier à Berlin. Venez assister à un concert ou visiter mon atelier et essayer mes instruments.

Michael Batell viola da gambas are concert instruments designed for the demands of professional performing and recording musicians, students at conservatory level, and serious amateurs and collectors.

Each instrument is constructed individually according to a considered study of the characteristics of its specific historic model and how those are best suited for the individual client’s preference in terms of sound, playability and budget. I have a large archive of reference material accumulated over the span of my career, including important books, photos from various collections, and blueprints of specific historic instruments obtained not only from museums’ archives but also developed from my own examinations, measurements and documentation of various historic instruments.

While some instruments are occasionally available for sale, any can be ordered by commission. They are all based on historic models in terms of architecture and construction, but can be constructed with a choice of woods and decorative appointments, string scales and spacing as well as neck profiles to suit individual musicians’ preferences.
