Reference models include 17th- and 18th-century examples attributed to luthiers such as Michel Colichon, Nicolas Bertrand, Ernst Busch, Paul Hiltz, and Richard Blunt, among others.

In their workshop, located in Mondovì (Italy), Marianna Ercole and Nedim Dervic combine the technical skills of traditional violin making with a constant focus on the historical, iconographical, and organological aspects of the instruments. The construction is entirely hand-made, following historically informed criteria, with particular care for the balance between structural accuracy and musical functionality.

Their work is internationally recognized ; in 2020, Marianna Ercole won first prize at the International Violin Making Competition in Malta with a bass viol inspired by a French model by Michel Colichon from 1691.
