Luthier, Violes de gambe

Floris-Jan van der Voort a d’abord fabriqué des violons modernes. 

À la recherche d’une approche plus artistique, il s’est inspiré des instruments à cordes historiques. Il a suivi une formation à West Dean, en Grande-Bretagne.

Depuis, il se consacre à la viole de gambe, de la Renaissance et de la période baroque, ainsi qu’au violon et à l’alto baroques. Des instruments originaux provenant de collections privées et de musées lui servent de modèles, à la fois comme source d’inspiration directe et pour donner un sens à la forme. C’est dans ce contexte qu’il a développé son propre style.

Outre la construction neuve, Floris-Jan effectue également des réparations, et loue et vend des violes de gambe. Ses instruments sont joués aux Pays-Bas, en Belgique, en Allemagne, en France, en Angleterre, au Japon, au Canada et aux États-Unis, par des musiciens professionnels et amateurs.

Floris-Jan van der Voort initially made modern violins. 

Seeking a more artistic approach, he drew inspiration from historical string instruments. He trained for this purpose at West Dean in Great Britain.

Since then, he has dedicated himself to the viola da gamba — from both the Renaissance and Baroque periods — and to the Baroque violin and viola. Original instruments from private collections and museums serve as models for his instruments, both as direct inspiration and to provide a sense of form. Within this framework, he has developed his own distinctive style.

Besides new construction, Floris-Jan also performs repairs, and rents and sells viols da gamba. His instruments are played in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, England, Japan, Canada, and the United States, by both professional and amateur musicians.
